Sign Our Petition: Oppose Valley Water's Expensive Ballot Measure to Increase their Own Terms

We are experiencing the worst drought in California’s recorded history – every last dollar of ratepayer money generated by our water district should go to securing our future water supply.

But instead, the Valley Water District Board of Directors wants to spend $3.2 million on a ballot measure to increase their own terms – using ballot measure language that implies the opposite.

Name(Required)

The measure says: “Shall the measure amending the Santa Clara Valley Water District Ordinance 11-01 to limit Board members to four successive four-year terms be adopted?”

Guess what? Board members are already limited to THREE successive four-year terms! Talk about misleading.

Our water rates keep going up rapidly, creating a financial hardship for many families. In fact, $3.2M could have paid off water bill debt for roughly 6,000 families or provided rebates for thousands of lawn conversions to drought tolerant landscaping.

Matt Mahan passed a resolution through the City Council opposing the Valley Water District Board of Directors’ decision to spend $3.2 million on the ballot measure. Help us defeat it once and for all.
