San Jose, CA – Santa Clara County District Attorney Jeff Rosen has announced that he is endorsing Matt Mahan for San Jose City Council District 10.

“Matt’s record as a neighborhood leader demonstrates his commitment to public safety. Matt understands that keeping our neighborhoods safe and protecting our quality of life requires a comprehensive approach,” said Rosen.

“DA Jeff Rosen is recognized nationally for his forward-thinking approach to keeping our communities safe. I have great respect for his record of seeking justice with integrity. I am honored to have his endorsement,” said Mahan.

Matt Mahan has already won the support of a growing and diverse group of elected officials, neighborhood and community leaders and political organizations, including the Silicon Valley Organization (SVO), the region’s largest business chamber and the Silicon Valley Young Democrats. He is also endorsed by San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo, former California Assemblymember Jim Cunneen, Oak Grove School District Board Member Jorge Pacheco, and Martin-Fontana Parks Association President Linda Wilson.

Matt was raised in Watsonville and attended Bellarmine College Prep on a full work-study scholarship. After graduating from Harvard, Matt returned to San Jose to teach middle school English and History in Alum Rock.

After teaching, Matt joined Causes, a startup and early Facebook app that enabled citizens to raise awareness and support for nonprofit organizations. He then co-founded Brigade, the world’s first nonpartisan technology platform that empowers voters to become informed, discuss, and advocate on civic issues that matter most to them.

Mahan serves on the board of neighborhood groups the Almaden Valley Communication Association and the D10 Leadership Coalition, the City’s Clean Energy Community Advisory Commission, and  helped found the Friends of Guadalupe Oak Grove Park organization with other community leaders.
